Jobs
We are currently advertising for the following positions here at GOODPLAY PTY LTD / Timesea Studio:
- Environment/Level Artist - Pixel Art
Job Description:
We would like to collaborate with an artist on our environment assets in our new action RPG, inspired from the pixel art era of games from the ‘90s.
We’re looking for a talented artist to create RPG top-down perspective tile maps/pixel environments. We have detailed and extensive references, images, and pixel art to draw inspiration from, and we’re seeking someone with incredible talent to push these environments to the next level.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate remotely with us, to draw and develop new environments from scratch.
• Create the visual style of levels. Bring new ideas to the table, by immersing themselves in the area design and lore.
• Providing insight, feedback, and expertise to colleagues.
• Ensuring cohesion between pre-existing art (character, enemy, and environment assets).
• A high level of communication with the team through our web messaging platform.
Some requirements and things we’re looking for:
• Some experience developing art assets, particularly in the pixel realm.
• No prior game development experience is necessary or needed.
• Commitment to weekly online meetings (Perth GMT+8).
• Good communication skills.
• English language skills.
• A passion for games! Knowledge and love of pixel games/the SNES era is even better.
• We have a strong focus on co-operation, both inside and outside of games!
Benefits:
• Flexible working hours; remote work can be done in your own time!
We would like to contract/commission an artist to work on an environment and level alongside us, with the intention of bringing talent on part-time/full-time to continue to work on the entire game.
Required Documents:
- CV with the following information:
o Any prior experience (including games worked on).
o The last couple of games you’ve played, what you thought of them, and why.
o Your favourite game ever, and why it’s your favourite.
o Anything else that you feel demonstrates your ability.
Note*: Due to the volume of emails we receive, if we haven’t replied to you within 14 days, it means that we don’t think that you’re a fit for our team in its current setup. We would like to add your details to our register to reach out if any relevant positions come up suitable for you.
Note*: Software is not a strict requirement, though programs like Adobe Photoshop and/or Aseprite are preferred.
